Well, yesterday we had our first sonogram. We are 6 weeks and 3 days, I think. They were able to see the gestational sac and the yolk sac inside of that, but did not see the baby or a heartbeat. I was immediately concerned. The tech let us know that six weeks is the earliest that they can see the fetus and heartbeat, but that is is not abnormal to not see it. She also said that we may not be quite as far along as we had been told. Something about "everybody ovulating at different times"!--Just kidding. She did let us know that everything that we did see looked great and was in all the right places. (how can they even tell?! It's like looking at black and white photos of aliens!) Anyhoo-they asked us to come back next week and try again. In the meantime, I really liked this doctor. He was referred to me by a guy in my office who had a baby 4 months ago.He took the time to really listen to my concerns and explained my fears away--for the most part.
The only negative to this particular doc, is that he is located about 20-30 minutes away. I have my first appointment with a different doctor next week and I suppose we will decide at that time which we will continue to see.
As far as the actual pregnancy is going, I have not been sick at all. Recently, I started craving Cheerios and Frosted Mini-Wheat's and I had my first food aversion a few days ago while eating mixed veggies...apparently our little one doesn't like baby corn on the cobb!!!
